John Mayer + Mustache = Extra Creepy
switchFont(1,"smallText");
(July 23) - Photographers snapped John Mayer on his way to meet Pete Wentz on July 22. The guitarist was sporting a new growth on his upper lip, perhaps in an attempt to emulate Yankees player Jason Giambi.
The above was posted on something called AOL News and it has us truly confused.
First of all, if AOL is the one I used to have back when my Internet would make strange sounds when it connected and the weird voice saying "You've got mail" wasn't novel the first time it happened, let alone every single time I started the frickin' thing, the A stands for America. Last we checked we Americans spell mustache "mustache" and a solid American computer will not allow you to spell it as though it is a small rodent like they do in places we have won wars for, against and sometimes both (and don't you forget it).
Second, isn't it a little last decade to pick on the mustached celebrity? Even if John Mayer isn't your thing, at least he's trying to do something different in both facial hair and in not continuing to bleet about my body being a wonderland (even though I appreciate the sentiment coz it really is, I just don't need to hear that one again and, thank God, Mr. Mayer has moved on, as well).
Lastly, does anyone older than 8 read something called AOL News? Isn't that the website kids are steered when the school board cuts out Weekly Reader subscriptions because its Halloween issue offended that mother who thinks giving candy encourages devil worshipping? Isn't this story the kind of stuff that passes for "edgy" news next to the "Find the Errors" picture of a guy and his fishbowl (wait a minute, now the fish has stripes!).
So, lay off, man. The media has had the mustache in its sights for a long time and, if it's making John Mayer sympathetic, it's just not working anymore. Mustache nation is onto you and we're not going to tolerate it.
Who's with me?
