Celebrate Goulet and his mustache in Chicago

Because more than 200,000 of you visit AMI each week, we've created a growing, furry community here online. Whether you come because you like the blog, the Monthly Mustache Interviews, our weekly videos, the bios, award winning research, or whatever -- you keep coming back for more. And we appreciate your dedication to AMI, the 'stache, and what we hope develops into one of the best Web sites dedicated to men's humor and mustache advocacy.

Some of the friends we have made are Mssrs. John Connolly, Vince Diviacchi, and Mike Sage of Chicago who put on the annual Robert Goulet party in The Windy Apple. Of course, as we wrote last Fall, the great Bob Goulet sadly passed away at age 73 in October 2007.  He was a beacon of  music, mustaches, and played a fine Quinten Hapsburg in the "Naked Gun 2 1/2."

Along with his wife, Goulet himself was actually scheduled to attend this event this year, going on year five, and you can find photos of past Robert Goulet parties here. Without question, this event is not to be missed. Men wear 'staches, blazers and turtlenecks (one link short of the 1970s "triple threat," of course missing the perm). Women wear sequin cocktail dresses.

This year, the event will take place March 8 at Mystic Celt in Chicago. Admission is $30 and that includes an open bar. If you are interested in attending, see the E-vite here, or e-mail John Connolly at jconnol80@hotmail.com

I am out of town on business that weekend.  I am very upset I will not be able to attend this.  I will send a pic of my mustache in honor of Mr Goulet and his party.

Why I'll be a son of a gun.  What a great idear for a partay!  If I wasn't already singed up for a gun show in Oklahoma, I'd be there with bells on.  It's nice to see facial hair has a place in your liberal city of chicago.

About afroman

The name “Abe Froman” is most commonly recognized as the ubiquitous and unseen character who’s identity is briefly assumed by actor Matthew Broderick in the film “Ferris Beuller’s Day Off.” However, Abraham Froman is much more. Dr. Froman, a Capricorn, began his career with AMI as an intern, and after receiving his certification in nuclear mustacheology in 2006, transitioned his role into the organization’s Director of Logistical Intelligence, focusing on research, government relations, intelligence gathering, grass roots advocacy, and song writing. On October 25, 2008, he will ascend to the role of Chief Executive Officer. “I am honored to assume the chair held by Drs. Snor and Perlut previously,” Froman said. “The Mustached American people need leadership, and I pledge that AMI, under my stewardship, will continue to provide it at a time when it is so desperately needed.” Dr. Froman has said that his future goals for AMI are to create satellite campus’s overseas and to develop an annual event, to be known as "The Million Mustache March," each year in St. Louis, concluding under the world’s largest mustache – St. Louis’ Gateway Arch. Froman formerly lived in the Chicago area where he ran a museum dedicated to the "Karate Kid" series of films starring the indefatigable Pat Morita. As Abe likes to say, "One can never tire of Pat Morita." Dr. Froman is also a periodic contributor to joesportsfan.com.
